GreenHere: For Thriving Trees and Communities

This is a promotional mini-documentary I made in the summer of 2011 for a Toronto tree stewardship organization. GreenHere does amazing work, but had little funds to put this project together, so I sourced and secured the camera, sound gear and editing software in addition to researching, producing, directing, and editing this doc myself. In the end, I was very proud of my final product, and the folks at GreenHere were happy too! It was definitely a challenge, but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences in my career thus far!

This is a documentary I made with an amazing team in my final year  as a journalism student at Carleton University. The documentary chronicles the life of one of our group-members, Mbonisi Zikhali, as he struggles to pursue his dream in a foreign country with little to rely on but his own determination. We had less than a month to plan, shoot and edit this film and got to work with a professional cameraperson and sound mixer to bring our vision to life. This experience taught me so much about the documentary production process, and about my own passion for filmmaking.
